Multi-Language Learner Specialization (13051.CM)

The Multi-Language Learner (MLL) Certificate is designed to prepare students to work with young multilingual learners and their families in Early Care and Education settings. This Certificate provides increased knowledge, skills, and teaching competencies for both pre- and in-service Early Childhood Educators and those pursing a P-3 or Multi Subject Credential.
The Certificate of Completion in Multi Language Learner Specialization is available for students who meet the graduation requirements and complete the following required courses, with a minimum grade of a “C” (or P) in each course in the degree and maintain a 2.0 GPA.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
A. Design curriculum and environments that are culturally and linguistically appropriate and support children with a focus on race, equity, and varieties of languages.
B. Select anti-bias, anti-racist, and multilingual literature that promotes children’s learning and supports their social-emotional development
C. Engage in a process of self-reflection through critical thinking that will guide and inform teaching practice.
D. Develop strong and reciprocal partnerships with multilingual families and other professionals in the field.
